Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has named a 22-man committee to work out arrangements for a “befitting burial to bed accorded the late Dr Joseph Wayas, a former President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
According to a press release by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Nsa Gill, the committee, which is to “commence preparations immediately and propose a date that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will confirm”, has the Cross River State deputy governor, Dr Peter Odey as Chairman, retired former chief judge, Justice Maurice Eneji as alternate chairman, and Papa Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe as secretary.
Announcing last Wednesday’s session of the State Executive Council meeting, Governor Otu also named former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Senator Kanu Agabi, Senators Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, Eteng Jonah Williams, Asuquo Ekpeyong, Florence Ita Giwa, Musa Adede, Mathew Mbu Jnr, Ndoma Egba, and Professor Anthony Owan-Enoh as members.
The release also indicates that Johnny Agim(SAN), Senators John Owan-Enoh, Bassey Ewa Henshaw, Hons Peter Akpanke, Emmanuel Ironbar, Godwin Ofiono, Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, Zainab Bio Ibrahim, and Dr Chris Ojikpong.
The release adds however that “the central planning committee also has the leverage to expand to achieve its mandate”.
